Top Tips to Help You Stop Biting Your Nails

Take your daily does of calcium and magnesium.  These help nails grow and repair, and will speed recovery.  There are also some reports that these minerals may be lacking in a diet, and could be part of the problem to begin with.
Protect yourself, one nail at a time.  Some people have more success if they start small and work on saving just one nail at a time.   When you see how good that one looks unharmed, it may be motivation enough to stop.
Replace the habit.  Nail biting is often just a distracting habit.  Find something better to take its place.
Distract yourself – hands and mouth.  Your hands and mouth will be so used to this habit you'll need a distraction for them.  Try taking up a hobby that keeps your hands busy and employ your mouth with gum or vegetables or other healthy munchies.
Try OTC products.  There are products specifically designed to help you break the nail-biting habit.  Many of these are things that simply taste bad to deter you, such bitter-tasting products you paint on your nails.
Cover up.  Cover up the problem, literally.  Try band-aids or fake nails – you won't want to be chewing on either of these.
Clip it in the bud.  If you find yourself chewing nails when they get long or start to break or chip, be sure to keep them trimmed back and under control.  It may be a good idea to carry a small pair of fingernail clippers and a file with you.
Treat yourself to a manicure.  First off, your nails will look great and you won't want to ruin them, but it also helps to know that you've just spent a good chunk of change, and you won't want to nibble that investment away.

Biting your nails is a hard habit to break, for sure, but it is certainly in your best interest.  You'll look better, feel better, be less self-conscious about your habit, and be healthier for it, too.
