Could Mattison be leaving town?

Are you looking for some inside information on ? Here's an up-to-date report from experts who should know.

You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about . But don't be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days.

All the coordinator-related talk the last few days has centered around offensive coordinator Cam Cameron and whether or not he'll return for the 2011 season.

Head coach John Harbaugh says Cameron will be back, although the final decision will likely be dependent on the thoughts of team owner Steve Bisciotti.

But now, it appears the Ravens might have another coordinator position to worry about.

Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison has been in talks with the University of Michigan about their defensive coordinator position, according to multiple reports.

Mattison has run the Ravens' defense for the last two seasons, but he has over 30 years of collegiate coaching experience, including four years at Michigan and two (1995-96) as the Wolverines' defensive coordinator.

He also has ties to new Michigan head coach Brady Hoke.

Since taking over for Rex Ryan as defensive coordinator here in Baltimore, Mattison has led two top-10 defenses. In 2009, the Ravens ranked third in the league in total defense. This year, Baltimore finished 10th.

Who are some names to watch if Mattison does decide to leave the Ravens?

The most likely in-house candidate is secondary coach Chuck Pagano, who was considered for the defensive coordinator job two years ago before Mattison was hired. Pagano is very respected and well-liked by his players.

Linebackers coach Dean Pees, who was the Patriots' defensive coordinator from 2006-09, is also a possibility.

That's the latest from the authorities. Once you're familiar with these ideas, you'll be ready to move to the next level.
