Mt. Prospect Happy to See DeWyze at Halftime

The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about it, here's your opportunity.

So far, we've uncovered some interesting facts about . You may decide that the following information is even more interesting.

Mt. Prospect, Ill. - In Mt. Prospect, everyone's talking about Lee DeWyze not singing the national anthem at the Bears-Packers game on Sunday.

Instead, the NFL said that DeWyze is going to sing at halftime, and the NFL said that Blackhawks favorite Jim Cornelison willl reprise his pre-Seahawks performance and sing the anthem again. (Although, stay tuned -- on Wednesday evening, DeWyze told our sister station KTTV in Los Angeles that he's singing the national anthem. So either he's confused, or the NFL is confused.)

It wouldn't be a controversy at all, but earlier in the week, DeWyze tweeted prematurely that he was going to be singing the anthem.

In Mt. Prospect, folks love the Bears and they love DeWyze, so they're trying to figure out where their primary loyalty lies.

"You know, we're all for Lee DeWyze but I'm sure he's okay with the decision. He still gets to sing -- so he'll be okay. He's supporting the Bears, I'm sure," said Kat Kaspercyk.

The energy from the national anthem that Cornelison sang in last week's playoff victory was huge, for the fans and the players. And the superstitious might say don't change anything, lest you jinx the Bears for their playoff epic against the hated Packers this Sunday.

Friends at the paint store where DeWyze used to work in Mt. Prospect say: Why take a chance at making Lee DeWyze the next Bartman?

"It may not be the big national anthem, yet he still gets to showcase his music and wether it's the stuff he has out now, or maybe something new it's still a good opportunity for him," said friend and former coworker Mike Binek.

I think it's a good thing," said fan Diana Fink. "He's the master, I mean he rocks the house at Hawks games, that's his forte."

Fink and many others in Mt. Prospect thing that the halftime show is a better choice because his voice and style of music will be better showcased in a two song set.

FOX said on Wednesday night that the network plans to air a significant portion of his halftime performance.

That's how things stand right now. Keep in mind that any subject can change over time, so be sure you keep up with the latest news.
